The Simpsons House(2523pcs) and The Simpsons KWIK-E-MART(2218pcs) 71016 71006
I hope the pictures look okay, I used the flash so it’s easier to see the Kwik-E-Mart interior without opening it up (because I’m lazy). My review for the Simpsons House is pretty much the same as my review for this: the quality is on par. This set DOES have many more references to the show though, so that’s worth considering. Because of that, there is an unholy amount of stickers in this set. I think it was around 50, across two different sticker sheets. The sticker quality is good except for the transparent ones. Those tend to have the glue come off the sticker sheet like melted cheese for whatever reason, and this leads to the glue remaining on the back of the sticker itself looking uneven and somewhat visible. The stickers still stick well, it’s just not the cleanest look. It’s still not that visible unless you’re looking for it, though. And there are many parts here with prints rather than stickers. The print quality is always fantastic.
The figures are just as high quality as before. Actually, I think they’re BETTER than in the Simpsons House. The faces look less dopey, and the paint on the arms and legs looks way better. For example, Bart’s legs actually look more yellow, instead of the slight green in the previous set. My only nitpicks with these figures are Chief Wiggum’s cheek, which is supposed to have frosting. It looks more like blood. I guess that’s kinda funny though, so maybe it’s a good thing. Also, Marge looks super messed up, as you can probably see in the image. Her eyes are crossed, and the skirt is finicky to put on, just like in the previous set.
The actual bricks are good quality, like always. No complaints there. The build itself was more enjoyable for me than the Simpsons House. It was more colourful, and had more variety. The back half of the build opens up in the middle, thanks to hinges on the left and right sides. The roof is also easily removable.
Once again, the instructions don’t have a cover for some reason. Weird. All in all though, I’m very happy with this set! It looks great next to the Simpsons House, and I wish more of these sets would come at some point in the future!
This set is a nearly perfect replica of the original one, for a fraction of the price. I’ll go through the downsides in a moment, but just know that this is almost identical to the old set from 2014. It comes with all the pieces (I wasn’t missing any) and even some extra ones. Notably, the nozzle pieces for the paint cans in the garage came as part of a mold used for several gun-shaped pieces, so I got a bunch of guns with this set. It’s a bit hard to describe unless you know what I’m talking about, the important part is that this set ends up coming with about a dozen gun pieces. Speaking of bonuses, I also got a free Mr Gold figure with the set from Joy Bricks. This is the third Mr Gold I own now, so I’m getting quite the collection!
On to the actual set… the minifigures are pretty good, though there is some issues with the paint as you can see in the images I posted. The fabric skirts are also kind of tricky to put on, and tend to not wrap all the way around. I’m not sure if this is a problem with the official set too. There’s also no dual-Mildred a pieces, and the sleeves of those pieces are just painted on, meaning that the color doesn’t wrap all the way around. You can see what I mean on Bart’s left arm in the pictures below.
The set comes with all the stickers you’ll need. They’re a bit transparent, revealing the color of the brick underneath, but it’s only slightly noticeable. Otherwise I had no issues with them.
The build itself is the highest-quality part of this set, which is good, because it’s what I cared about the most. The layout and wall colours aren’t completely accurate to the show, but that’s to be expected with a brick-built replica. The only difference between this and the official set from 2014 that I noticed was a different garage door color. This one is orange, while the original was a more rare nougat color. All the bricks fit together well. None were too tight, and none were too loose.
The cover of the instructions is super plain, but that’s a nitpick. The instructions are flawless otherwise.
Overall, super happy with this set! I’ll be reviewing the Kwik E Mart soon!
Another great product as always
its a challenge with no labeled packs but the quality if very good and it is a fun build
