I was genuinely excited to receive the Retro Record Player to add to my growing collection of retro-style builds. The design is super charming and fits perfectly with that vintage aesthetic I love, so my expectations were pretty high going in.

The build itself started off smooth and enjoyable—everything was coming together quickly and easily. That is, until I got to the arm assembly. That’s where things took a frustrating turn. No matter what I tried, I could not get the arm to securely click onto the orange piece. At best, it would latch unevenly on one side, only to pop right back off. After multiple attempts, it honestly felt less like user error and more like a defective part.

At this point, I’m stuck trying to dig through my extra pieces to see if I can somehow rig a solution, which definitely takes away from the overall experience. Building sets like this is supposed to be fun and relaxing—not a source of stress.

Unfortunately, compared to other sets I’ve purchased from this site, this one falls far short. Between the assembly issue and the resulting frustration, I’d have to give this set a very low score.

Great little set, some incorrect colours in the first few steps but inconsequential in the end. No missing pieces. Good quality.
