Free gift of a metallic purple minifigure - nice 👍
Took a pre-build inventory, and there were no missing or broken pieces.
Instructions were well printed, and clear - stickers were also of good quality.
This is my second FLEGO kit, and the first from a named brand - the brick quality is really good, the only real difference were some pieces arriving marked / scuffed and the lack of the LEGO imprint on the stud. Clutch was good, if a little too good in places - you might want to get your hammers out for some of this one. But you can safely move it without fear of it collapsing / parts falling off. There were a few printed bricks, and these were all very clear prints and well aligned. One thing I did notice is that some of the brick alignments were quite obviously out - this had no effect on the build, but it was quite noticeable when building.
I didn’t realise when I bought it, but it includes LED light bricks that give quite good illumination - they are turned on / off by inserting a technic rod and turning. Each one is powered by 2 AG3 button cell batteries. There is a small screw that can be removed, so that you can access the batteries, so they could be replaced but, in practice, only 6 of the lights (4 at the base of the rocket and 2 at the very top) would be easily reached to do this. The lights are a nice touch, but more of a gimmick.
There was only one issue with the build - the 2 side “pipe” structures were not long enough to connect when assembled - I have double-checked the build instructions and I have followed them correctly. I have tried to extend these by not fully inserting rod pieces into sleeves, but still cannot bodge a fit. I reached out to Joy Bricks who explained that the connecting rod pieces only come in 3, 4 and 6 lengths - they have said they will send the 6L rods, and I can cut them to fit. This MOC was only released in February of this year (something I didn’t realise until researching it a bit more) so I have made the rookie early of buying too soon. A lesson learned, and not a massive problem overall.
Overall I really enjoyed this although it wasn’t completely without issues; the clutch did mean that some of the smaller parts could be a bit fiddly, and the issue with the “pipe” structures. I have been building a lot of the official NASA space kits, and bought this on whim - isn’t a life-like reconstruction, but it is a really good, fun, model to build and display (if you can look past the "pipe" error).
Dimensions are width 128mm / depth 112mm / height 565mm
Based on this I would definitely recommend both Joy Bricks (as a store) and JIESTAR (as a brand).
Very simple set, huge size for the price. I highly recommend it as the brick quality is also quite high.
